Saturday March 9, 2013 | 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM | Brubeck Room | Wilton Library
In honor of International Women’s Day Maisah Sobaihi returned to perform her one woman play at the Wilton Library. She had previously been invited as a keynote speaker also on the occasion of International Women’s Day in 2012.
Every summer since 2000 in midtown Manhattan, the Midtown International Theatre Festival (MITF) celebrates the diversity of theatre in New York City and beyond. Maisah Sobaihi was selected to perform her production in July 2012 making her the first Saudi to showcase at this diverse theatre festival.”
“Overall the show was carefully crafted through the use of characterization and costume to keep the audience on track…I think the show has considerable potential with American audiences, who are naturally quite interested in the Middle East…If I had a theatre of my own I’d offer Maisah a spot, but alas that’s not true any more.”… more
